South Coast Food & Wine - The Stuff of Life!

Coffee houses, restaurants and boutique bars are transforming these days into places of beauty, with owners concentrating on venue design and great customer service to compete.

Healthier food, including vegan options, is becoming more commonplace, and the paddock to plate concept is being adopted by people interested in what they're eating and where it comes from.

You might think these trends are happening more in big cities, but you'd be wrong. Even the comparatively sleepy south coast caters beautifully to these tastes and has done for some time.

Pilgrim's Vegetarian Cafe in Milton is an institution for locals and regular tourists. It has been around since 1980 and is still going strong. Even confirmed meat eaters like myself will admit to having a favourite on the Pilgrim's menu - the Bliss Burger is mine!

Following a diverse breakfast menu, which is served until 12pm, you can move onto a great selection of burgers, pies, salads and wraps. There is an enviable selection of drinks, and of course there are vegan options too.

If you drop in for a coffee, I challenge you to order it without giving in to the temptation of a freshly baked blueberry muffin - made on the premises, and incredibly addictive.

They have a delicious Mexican menu too that's really popular with locals. They cater to the little ones with three dinner choices, and serve beers, wines and cocktails.

Pilgrims promotes a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and it's easy to see why they're doing so well. You can also find them in Huskisson, Corrimal and Cronulla. But, if you're in Milton, and feeling peckish, be sure to check them out.
